Number portability as the name suggests is a service that allows a phone subscriber to switch from one network to another using the same number. In the past, GSM subscribers in Nigeria have been used to using services across networks by getting multiple sim cards and this has made a lot of people use multiple mobile phones or phones with dual sim cards just to get the best gsm service and the reasons why people do this is mostly because of poor service from one network. For most people who have become used to gsm services, having two or 3 sim cards seem the smart way to go when one wants the best service such that he is able to switch over to another network when the former has been giving poor service. With the number portability service being newly rolled out, Nigerians would now be able to simply switch to another network for free using the same phone number. So there would be no need to be using multiple sim cards or dual sim phones as a single number can still work well for you.

Do you still use 3 sim cards from networks like MTN, Glo, Airtel or Etisalat? Well, that is no longer fashionable as you could just use a single sim card and still be able to access services for all these listed networks. Don't bother yourself carryng 3 phones just to stay in touch as you could checkmate poor services by your network by simply switching over to another one. Now, you are the oga at the top and no longer at the mercy of a bad network.
