Easy way to get MTN Nigeria GPRS data settings on your phone - NaGSM

If you are one of those internet savvy people that want to be browsing on your mobile phone, then you can set up your phone easily following the steps I would list below. It is a simple procedure for getting mobile internet settings on your phone using an sms request.

How to get the settings by SMS from MTN
- Simple compose the message "SETTINGS" without the quotes
- Send it to 3888
- You would get a reply within 1 minute telling you to save the configuration settings about to be sent to you
- The settings would arrive your phone by sms
- Open the settings and save them on your phone
- Set them as the default settings
- You may switch off your phone and on it again
- Now you can start browsing by going to your phone's mobile browser

I just did it now and it is already working. If you are still unable to set up your mobile phone fro mobile browsing on the MTN network, then you may need to do it manually. You can do it yourself by just going into your phone's configuration settings and saving these settings I would list below

MTN settings for manual configuration
Account Name = MTN GPRS
IP Address = 10.199.212.2
Port = 9201 (for WAP) or 8080 (for HTML)
Username = web
Password = web
Access Point Name (APN) = web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net

Phones like Tecno would need to be manually configured for browsing on the MTN network.

It doesn't work for all phones but only the ones that can accept OTA setting.s Your phone may need to be manually configured

As I said, you need to first of all be able to browse with your phone before you would be able to use 2go or any online application on it.

Can your phone still browse the web? Try going to wap.google.com and see if it works from your browser.
